How We Work

Our Ranking Methodology

Every ranking, guide, and review on Fuelist follows a strict evaluation process designed to cut through marketing noise and surface what actually works.

01

Evidence-Based Standards

Rankings are grounded in peer-reviewed research and independently validated data, not user reviews or paid placements.

02

Hands-On Testing

Apps and supplements are tested over 30–90 day windows with documented protocols. We measure what the product claims to deliver.

03

Editorial Independence

No paid rankings, no affiliate-driven recommendations. Scores follow the data, not brand partnerships.

04

Continuous Updates

Rankings are re-evaluated when apps ship major updates or new studies emerge. Every score carries a verified-on date.

Trust & Transparency

Frequently Asked Questions

Do brands pay to be featured or ranked higher?
No. Rankings are determined solely by our independent evaluation criteria: accuracy of health data, evidence quality of claims, privacy practices and usability. No app or brand can purchase a higher position. Where we use affiliate links they are clearly disclosed and never influence ranking scores.
What makes a guide or ranking 'evidence-based' by your criteria?
We assess whether claims are grounded in peer-reviewed research, whether algorithms (e.g., TDEE formulas, macro calculators) align with validated scientific models, and whether data sources are disclosed. Content that relies solely on proprietary methods without transparency scores lower.
How do you test the apps and supplements you rank?
Every reviewed app undergoes a structured 30-day minimum test period. For nutrition apps, we cross-check food database accuracy against USDA FoodData Central on 100+ items. For supplements, we verify third-party batch certifications (Informed Sport, NSF) before recommending.
What happens when new evidence contradicts an existing ranking?
Rankings are re-evaluated after significant updates or new research. Each score card shows a 'verified on' date. If a ranking changes by more than 10 points, we publish a changelog entry explaining what changed and why.
